Robert Joyce is a native Southern Californian. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at San Diego, and graduated with clinical honors from the New England College of Optometry with a Doctor Degree in Optometry.
Dr. Joyce’s passion for vision perception led him to a career in Optometry; and he is trained in the most up to date advancements in eye care. He is committed to providing outstanding treatment and service and strives to enhance the quality of life of every patient by helping them achieve optimal vision.
Dr. Joyce is dedicated to advancing the field of vision science. He has held positions in research and development in the contact lens and ophthalmic lens industry and is currently actively involved as principle clinical investigator on various studies geared toward the development of new technology. He is published in chapters and articles in text books as well as ophthalmic journals on various new technologies in vision care, and has been interviewed in local San Diego health news reports which highlight new contact lens technology.
Dr. Joyce enjoys travel, surfing, sailing and diving with his wife Shelley and three children. He is involved with a variety of local civic and non-profit organizations, including supporting Lion’s Club and Rotary in providing pro bono eye care in various clinics. He is currently, with the help of the several Rotarians, developing an eye clinic in Ensenada Mexico for the purpose of bringing much needed eye care to the underserved children of the area.
